Spiritual Formation

Discovery Class

The Discovery Class is designed as an introduction to the life of our church family. This class outlines who we are and where we are going. If you are curious about NUMC or interested in membership, this is the class for you!

Alpha

Would you like to find a way to investigate such questions as “Who is Jesus?” and “Why and How Do I Pray?” If so, then Alpha is the perfect place to begin. It is a basic 10-week introduction to the Christian faith and is now part of the Sunday Night Community & Tuesday Night Community. Sessions include a video presentation followed by round-table discussions. No questions are out of bounds.

Purpose Driven Life

Based on Rick Warren’s best-selling book, this study will help you understand why you are alive and God’s amazing plan for you – both here and now, and for eternity. This 40 day spiritual journey will guide you in answering life’s most important question - “What on earth am I here for?”

Bible Studies

Primer to the Bible

Have you always wanted a simple and basic survey of the Old and New Testaments? This class is designed to be an introduction to the Bible where you will learn its basic vocabulary, movements, literary patterns, significant historical facts and theological themes. While we won’t guarantee that we'll answer all your questions, it will be a fun overview that will enable you to pick up the Bible and know where to start. Our goal is to have you better understand and love the scriptures. We hope to give you tools for growth for a lifetime (and beyond) of faith.

Book of the Bible Study

Come and learn about a single book of the Bible. This group is designed to study and discuss a single gospel, letter or Old Testament book of the Bible. Come discover the beauty of God whispering through the living treasure of His word and His people.

Disciple I Bible Study

This is an intensive 34-week study of both the New and the Old Testaments. The adage of this course is that you get out of it what you put into life. And while you’ll find this study to be more work, it’s worth every bit of it as you read through 80% of the Bible and discuss it within a small group community.

Disciple III Bible Study

Disciple III is also similar to Disciple I with it’s nightly homework and devotions. This 32-week Disciple Study will look at the Prophets and Paul’s letters. The focus of this study will be community and identity as God’s people.

Specialty Groups

Healthy Lifestyles

Healthy Lifestyles is our Weight Support Group and Bible Study. We meet each week for encouragement and accountability. Even though each of us are following our own weight loss program, we are “Doing Life Together”, the comprehensive study of the Purpose Driven Life.

Moms’ Group

This is a time for Moms to discuss issues specific to child rearing and relationships. It is not enough to say about this busy stage of life – ‘this too shall pass.’ We, as Moms, want to enjoy our children and a depth of relationship with others that brings joy and recalibrates our attitude.

Wives’ Study

This study is a wonderful opportunity to inquire into God’s heart and what He would desire for the heart of a wife. With Scripture, book reading, loving support thoughtful teaching and a bit of accountability, we have witnessed lives changed and marriages healed. This two hour class is offered Tuesday mornings and nights!
